Maersk Line said it is implementing a new schedule of terminal handing charges in Europe, effective Oct. 18, and it would create a similar schedule for the rest of the world in coming months.
The company said the aim of the new schedule is "to make it easy for our customers to do business with Maersk Line."
Maersk said the new terminal handling charges would apply to all trades and will be valid for both import and export cargo. It believes they will be more stable and reviewed annually, eliminating frequent changes.
The charges are denominated in a number of different currencies, but the ones priced in euros range from 60 euros (about $81) for dry and reefer containers in Latvia to 195 euros ($262) for dry containers and 290 euros ($390) for refrigerated containers in France.
