Evergreen Line announced its withdrawal from the Tango service operated by Hamburg Sud linking ports on the East Coasts of North and South America.
The Taiwan-based carrier cited the worldwide economic downturn and need to focus resources in other trades for the move. It is terminating its space charter agreement in compliance with its 90-day pre-notice.
The final sailings for Evergreen Line customers will be the Cap San Nicolas from New York Jan. 25 and the Cap San Augustin from Buenos Aires Jan. 26.
Evergreen will continue service to Venezuela via the Colon Container Terminal in Panama and to South America's West Coast trade.
