Zim is increasing the size of vessels being used in its Asia-Gulf Express service.
The Tampa Port Authority said the Zim Shekou, a 4,250-TEU capacity Panamax ship, called Monday at the Port of Tampa Container Terminal. The vessel is the first of eight like-sized containerships being phased into Zim's weekly Asia-Gulf Express (AGX) service.
Zim said 13 vessels participate in the service, which has a port rotation of Qingdao, Shanghai, Pusan, Osaka, Yokohama, Panama Canal, Cristobal, Kingston, Mobile, Tampa, Houston, Kingston, Panama Canal, Qingdao.
The port said it was the largest containership to call the port to date.
