Two of Manila's main ports, the Manila South Harbor (SH) and the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT), will charge an additional seven percent on cargo-handling fees beginning New Year's Day, Asia Pulse reported.
The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), said the agency has approved the second round of rate increases after port operators found sufficient bases to raise their corresponding fees, among which, is the prevailing global financial situation.
An earlier five percent increase was approved by PPA on April 2 last year, bringing to 12 percent the total percentage hike upon the implementation of the latest rate approval.
