Maersk Line sister carrier Safmarine has changed the second of two loops on its Safari service between the Far East and South Africa into a feeder service linking Mauritius with the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Maersk's Southeast Asia hub.
The new rotation for the first loop is Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. The second loop will now connect Port Louis with PTP. Port Louis, which had been served by the Safari first loop northbound and by second loop southbound, will now be skipped. The first loop previously did not include Hong Kong and switched Port Louis out with Port Elizabeth, according to ComPair Data.
The second loop, which has now become a feeder service using three ships of 1,300 to 1,700 TEUs, previously had a port rotation of Hong Kong, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Louis, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Tanjung Pelepas and Hong Kong.
