Stakeholders at the Tanzanian port of Dar es Salaam have resolved to end congestion at the facility within the next few weeks, Dow Jones reported.
After a meeting with President Jakaya Kikwete over the weekend, they agreed to start by removing 5,332 containers piled up at the port.
They would also consult authorities in Congo and Zambia on improvements of port services for the two neighbouring countries.
The containers will be transferred to Inland Container Depots, which have the capacity of accommodating 8,300 containers.
Last month, it was reported that Tanzania's coffee exports were being held up by congestion at the port that resulted in exporters facing penalties for delayed deliveries.
