Mediterranean Shipping Co. announced plans to implement a general rate increase for cargo moving on its services from India to East Africa.
The carrier in a notice to the trade said the increase will be $300 per TEU, to be applied effective when its vessel, the MSC Marmara, calls the Port of Jawaharlal Nehru on Feb. 17.
The Geneva-based company said the rate hike is necessary to cover a substantial increase in operational costs, and be able to offer reliable services to customers.
