The Kaohsiung Port Bureau in Taiwan has signed an intent of cooperation with three counterparts in Shanghai, Qingdao and Dalian in mainland China to kick off cooperation in direct shipping, logistics investments, and market information, the Taiwan Economic News reported.
KPB general director Shieh Ming-hui Shieh said Kaohsiung Port will become a sister port with Dalian and Qingdao ports in the foreseeable future. Having just returned from visiting China’s major ports, Shieh said KPB has signed intents of cooperation with COSCO Group, mainland China’s largest container shipper, China Shipping, China Merchants Group, and Sinotrans Group.
Shieh noted the signing of the intents of cooperation with mainland’s three major ports for direct shipping will significantly help reduce operating costs for exporters in China and, at the same time, boost the business opportunities for shippers in both mainland China and Taiwan.
