Maersk Line said it is raising rates on a host of Western Hemisphere trades, a response to “unacceptable rate levels” that is “unsustainable in the longer term.”
The rate hikes are:
• East Coast South America to Central America, Caribbean and West Coast South America, $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU or 40-foot reefer.
• North America to and from West Coast South America, $300 per TEU, and $600 per FEU and 40-foot high cube or 45-foot high cube container.
• Mexico and Central America to Mexico, Central America and Caribbean, $100 per TEU and $200 per FEU or 40-foot reefer.
• Mexico and Central America to West coast of South America and East Coast of South America, $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU or 40-foot reefer.
• Central America and Caribbean to Central America, West Coast of South America and Caribbean, $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU or 40-foot reefer.
• Central America and Caribbean to East Coast of South America, $50 per TEU and $100 per FEU or 40-foot reefer.
• Central America and Caribbean to Panama and Dominican Republic, $50 per TEU and $100 per FEU or 40-foot reefer
• Central America and Caribbean to Central America, $100 per TEU and $200 per FEU or 40-foot reefer.
All of the increases go into effect from Sept. 1, except for rates between North America and West Coast South America in both directions, which go into effect Oct. 1.
