On 3 September 2009, Maersk Line introduced an enhanced eastbound service from South Vietnam to the United States West Coast – Pacific Express Service. With the introduction of the Pacific Express Service, Maersk Line has established an industry-best lead time product utilizing their proven network, consistently rated #1 in schedule reliability amongst the 20 top ocean carriers.
The Pacific Express service commences with the initial sailing from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) on September 16, 2009.
“Vietnam is a fast-developing market with significant growth as a sourcing location. We have analyzed the deployment and terminal opportunities in Vietnam and have listened closely to our customers to provide a product that delivers best-in-class service and lead time in this fast developing and important market, and are very pleased to offer this improved service in the market” said Peter Smidt-Nielsen, General Director of Maersk Line Vietnam.
With a lead-time from origin cutoff to discharge of only 17 days, the improved Pacific Express product will better support customers’ efforts to enhance the efficiency of their supply chain. With a Tuesday cutoff at the vital factory hub of Cat Lai near Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Maersk Line offers the fastest and most convenient service for US West Coast bound cargo flows.
Integrated into Maersk Line’s trans-Pacific service network, this dedicated Pacific Express service offers a seamless and ultra reliable connection, via Hong Kong, to the premier TP6 service with direct service to Los Angeles.
