ACL/Grimaldi will start calling at Savannah with its West African Service in early July, the Georgia Ports Authority said Friday.
The fortnightly service is adding four new combination container and roll-on, roll-off vessels and will put those new vessels on the service by September.
From Savannah, the port rotation includes direct calls at Dakar, Cotonou, Lome, Lagos and Tema, with feeder service to Banjul, Conakry, Freetown, Monrovia, Boma, Douala, Point Noire, Luanda, Lobito, Takoradi, San Pedro and Abidjan.
The West African service vessels are multi-purpose, so they can handle containers, breakbulk and ro-ro cargo like tractors and used cars. Imports will include commodities such as lumber and cocoa.
