Hoptrans Logistics, the principal cargo handling agent at Lithuania's Kaunas airport, has begun a regular charter service to Shanghai with an IL-76 freighter.
The company is reported as saying it is marketing Kaunas as an alternative hub in the Baltic States to more expensive and congested northern Europe airports.
In addition to its own terminal, Hoptrans operates an extensive road feeder fleet providing forwarders with air cargo distribution to Italy, France, Spain and Russia.
Founded in 1993, the company specializes in multimodal transport and logistics with subsidiaries in Kaliningrad, Moscow and Sharjah.
