Evergreen Line is entering into a vessel-sharing agreement with intra-Asian carrier MMC Transport to launch the Malaysia - Bangladesh Shuttle service.
The service is scheduled to begin on Dec. 16.
Until now, Evergreen Line served transport cargo to and from the Bangladesh area by common feeder at Colombo Harbor.
But Evergreen said common feeder services are no longer able to meet its customers demand for capacity at cost-effective prices because of the growing trend of increasing volume in local export and import markets.
The company said that the launch of the new MBS service with MCC Transport will enable it to ensure both long-haul and regional transshipment capacity, as well as shorter transshipment time.
The two carriers will each deploy one containership with a capacity of 700 20-foot-equivalent container units on the following 14-day rotation: Tanjung Pelepas, Chittagong, and back to Tanjung Pelepas.
