The state-run Tanzania Ports Authority is planning to build three more ports along the country's coastline to meet demand for increased capacity, improve handling services and accommodate future growth, reported the Daily News.
TPA Corporate and Communications Manager Franklin Mziray said that the new ports would be at Bagamoyo, Mwambani and Tanga.
Currently, the Tanzanian port of Dar Es Salaam is the main export-import port for a number of land-locked areas, including mineral-rich Zambia and Congo's Katanga province.
TPA has invested in an Inland Container Depot, located about 40 km west of the harbour, to reduce container congestion at Dar Es Salaam port.
