The New World Alliance (TNWA), which includes Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), APL and Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), will launch a direct Vietnam - North Europe service next month.
The Alliance partners will create the new route by adding a Vietnam call to their JEX service, with the first vessel expected to call at Cai Mep in South Vietnam on January 15th.
The service will link Vietnam with the European ports of Rotterdam, Hamburg and Le Havre. It will also provide direct connection from major Japanese and Chinese ports to Vietnam, where further trade growth is expected.
From January 4th, the new JEX port rotation will be: Kobe > Nagoya > Shimizu > Tokyo > Hong Kong > Yantian > Cai Mep > Singapore > Rotterdam > Hamburg > Le Havre > Tangier > Jeddah > Singapore > Yantian > Hong Kong > Kobe.
Transit times will be seven days from Tokyo to Cai Mep; 21 days from Cai Mep to Rotterdam.
Along with this change, the westbound Tangier call will be transferred from the JEX service to MOL's SCX service, enabling MOL to offer improved transit times from China to West Africa.
From January 2nd, the new SCX port rotation will be: Ningbo > Shanghai > Xiamen > Hong Kong > Chiwan > Singapore > Colombo >Tangier > Southampton > Hamburg > Rotterdam > Singapore > Hong Kong > Ningbo.
