China airlines impose fuel surcharge

3/5/2011 11:57:49 AM

The recent rise in fuel surcharges has had a negative impact on the profit of aviation companies, said Li Jiaxiang, head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

China hiked gasoline and diesel prices by US$53.28 a metric tonne in February, prompting Chinese airlines including Air China to levy a fuel surcharge of $13.7 per passenger for routes longer than 800 km, and a $7.61 surcharge for routes of 800 km or less.
