Hanjin Shipping will increase its freight rates on the Asia-Europe and trans-Atlantic trades as of April 1.
Hanjin's announcement came a day after the CKYH alliance among Cosco, "K" Line, Yang Ming and Hanjin revealed plans to add a new service that will increase capacity between Asia and North Europe.
Hanjin's increases, which apply to all dry, reefer and special cargos, are as follows: --from the Far East to North Europe and the Mediterranean: $200 per 20-foot equivalent unit and $400 per 40-foot equivalent unit. --from Japan to North Europe and the Mediterranean: $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU. --from Southeast Asia to North Europe and the Mediterranean: $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU. --from North Europe and the Mediterranean to the Far East, South Asia, the Middle East and Australia: $100 per TEU and $100 per FEU. --on the trans-Atlantic in both directions: $300 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
