Tropical Shipping said it will implement a planned peak surcharge on container shipments from the U.S. and Canada to the Caribbean, starting Oct. 9.
For shipments to the Dominican Republic, the Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St. Barths, St. Kitts, Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent and Trinidad, the proposed surcharge is $150 fee per 20-foot container; $300 per 40-foot container; and $338 per 40-foot plus container. The surcharges also apply to shipments from Puerto Rico to Canada.
The proposed surcharge to Nassau, and Turks and Caicos Islands is $100 per 20-foot container; $200 per 40-foot container; and $225 per 40-foot plus container.
