Maersk Line, the shipping unit of Danish business conglomerate A P Moller-Maersk will raise its Asia-Europe rates by US$400 per 20 foot container from April 1 on the Asia-Europe trades, only weeks after announcing a GRI of $775 per TEU from March 1, more than double the spot rate existing at that time.
Last week, Maersk Line said it had lowered its capacity between Asia and Europe by nine percent to manage the imbalance that exists between the supply of ships on the route and demand.
