Hapag-Lloyd said it will suspend its Atlantic Express Shuttle (AES) service "due to the current market situation" until further notice.
"Whenever the market situation improves sufficiently, it is our intention to recommence this service," the German carrier said.
Hapag-Lloyd said the last sailing will be by the containership Commander. The final westbound sailing is scheduled for July 16 from Hamburg and from Antwerp on July 18. Commander departs New York for Europe on July 27. The service was operated between those three ports. The three ships on the service had an average capacity of 2,761 TEUs, according to Compair Data.
Space sharing partners in the service included Alianca, Hamburg Sud, Hyundai, NYK and OOCL.
