DANISH shipping giant Maersk Line, the world's largest carrier, has added to its New Zealand service with new calls to Wellington and Nelson on its weekly Southern Star loop from Singapore.
The 2,824-TEU Maersk Jubail will make its first calls on Wellington on August 15 and on August 16 at Nelson, reports London's Containerisation International. The service rotation will be Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Tauranga, Wellington, Nelson, Lyttleton, Port Chalmers and back to Tanjung Pelepas.
Maersk's Northern Star schedule dovetails with its Southern Star service. A 10th vessel is being added to the loop to accommodate its two extra ports. The two schedules double as mainline services between New Zealand, Australia and Singapore and feeder services for deep-sea cargo to and from Asia, Middle East, Africa and Europe.
