Port of Haifa hit record container traffic in 1H of 2012

Container volume at the Port of Haifa in the first half of 2012 reached the level of TEU 719,883, an increase of nearly 12 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.
 
In a press release issued by the port, it noted that during the same period in 2012, it registered a two digits increase in all container segments. The number of local containers ( import and export) increased by 10% compared to the corresponding period last year.
 

Data released by the Shipping and Ports Authority (S&PA) the port's market share increase by 4%.
 
In the transshipment sector, the port registered an increase of 18% during the first six months, compared to the corresponding period last year. In total the port handled during the first half 12,196 thousand tons, an increase of 7% compared to the corresponding period last year.
