GERMAN-based carrier Hamburg Sud is to launch a direct liner service between North, Central and South America from the United States west coast from January 4 to replace Cartagenan service and will provide faster northbound transit for fruit delivery to California.
The service will deploy five vessels in the 1,850-TEU range and includes reefer plugs. It will follow the port rotation of Guayaquil, Balboa, Puerto Quetzal, Los Angeles, Oakland, Manzanillo, Puerto Quetzal, Balboa, Paita and back to Guayaquil.
The first sailings will be from Guayaquil on January 4 and from Los Angeles on January 20 with the Cap Palliser.
The new service is integrated into the shipping group's worldwide liner network, with connections to Asia, the Caribbean, Europe and US east coast.
