Hapag-Lloyd has revised the application date of the congestion surcharge that it plans to apply in the event of an International Longshoremen’s Association strike.
The expiration date of the ILA labor contract on the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts was further extended from Dec. 29, 2012, to Feb. 6, 2013.
Accordingly, the German ocean carrier said it now will apply a congestion surcharge on all U.S. imports and exports via East and Gulf Coast ports by notice, but not before Feb. 7, and on all U.S. exports and imports via West Coast ports by notice, but not before Feb. 13.
