Ocean carrier United Arab Shipping Co. will implement a general rate increase on all U.S. export cargo to the Middle East and Mediterranean, effective March 1. It will apply to all tariff ocean freight rates and service contracts.
The rate hike will be $150 per 20-foot container and $200 per 40-foot container for shipments from the U.S. to Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
UASC said that on shipments to Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey, the increase will be $50 per 20-foot container and $75 per 40-foot container.
