United Arab Shipping Company set a peak-season surcharge on westbound shipments from Asia and Australia to West Mediterranean and Adriatic destinations, starting Sept. 1.
The surcharge on dry and refrigerated cargo will be $250 per 20-foot container. The carrier will also apply a $250 per-TEU rate increase on all cargo moving from Asia and Australia to North Europe, effective Sept. 1.
The move follows a $225 per-TEU rate hike announcement by Israel-based Zim Integrated Shipping Services on Asia-Indian Subcontinent-Europe-Mediterranean-Black Sea trade lanes, also as of Sept. 1.
