GOLD STAR Line (GSL) has added a service connecting China, Indonesia and Philippines in joining Cheng Lie's IPCX service, which is branded 'CH-1' by GSL, reports Alphaliner.
Ship capacity has increased from the 2,800 TEU to the 3,500 TEU range, with GSL bringing in one of the four ships, the 3,388-TEU Stadt Aachen, which replaces Cheng Lie's 2,800-TEU Tatiana Schulte, with Cheng Lie replacing the two others, the 2,800-TEU Santa Brunella and the ER Martinique (re-assigned to the NCX service) with the 3,500-TEU Helena Schulte and Northern Defender.
The fourth 3,436-TEU Box Voyager was phased in by Cheng Lie in January. The IPCX- CH-1 service rotation is Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Jakarta, Surabaya, Manila (S), Hong Kong and back to Qingdao. Yang Ming, Evergreen, OOCL, "K" Line, RCL and MOL are slot buyers.
