CHENG LIE and Hong Kong's TS Lines are increasing capacity 50 per cent on their North China-Ho Chi Minh City service (NCX) with the help of Regional Container Line (RCL) by replacing 1,700-TEUers with ships in the 2,500- to 2,800 range.
Gone will be the 1,700-TEU Baltic Strait, the Barents Strait and the Hansa Offenburg to be replaced by the 2,500- to 2,800-TEU Santa Brunella, ER Matinique and the TS Korea, reports Alphaliner.
The NCX rotates through Dalian, Xingang, Qingdao, Lianyungang, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Shekou, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong and back to Dalian.
RCL joined in March as slot buyer, calling the service RCX (except on Lianyungang). The NCX is also used by K Line, which will continue to take slots under the name Jaseco V.
