The liner carrier CMA CGM on Friday took delivery of the second of the series of what is currently the largest containership in the world.
The 16,000-TEU U.K.-flagged CMA CGM Alexander Von Humbold will be deployed on the French carrier’s flagship FAL1 service between Asia and Europe.
The third vessel in the series, the Jules Verne, is scheduled for delivery in May. The first vessel, the Marco Polo, delivered in November 2012, is currently the largest containership in operation, but that will be eclipsed later this year when Maersk receives the first of its 18,000-TEU "Triple-E" vessels.
