Dubai International Airport moved 199,985 metric tons of freight in April, up 7.3 percent from 186,385 metric tons in April 2012.
Year-to-date, cargo through the United Arab Emirates airport totaled 784,832 metric tons, up 11.5 percent from the first four months of the previous year.
“It is very clear that our growth rate has picked up and that should continue at a similar pace into the next quarter and beyond,” Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, which operates Dubai International, said in a written statement. “Accordingly, we are continually increasing capacity at Dubai International, the most recent example of which was the opening of the first phase of expansion at Terminal 2.”
