DUBAI International Airport handled 208,695 tonnes of cargo in October, an increase of three per cent year on year.
Year to date freight volumes rose by 6.2 per cent compared to the first 10 months of 2012 to reach 1,994,234 tonnes, according to the latest figures released by the operator, Dubai Airports.
The world's second busiest hub for international passengers recorded its tenth consecutive month of growth with 5,667,698 travellers passing through the airport in October, an increase of 15.1 per cent year-on-year. Year to date, passenger traffic climbed 15.9 per cent to 55,046,863 year on year.
Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths said that growth in passenger traffic numbers has been better than expected so far this year and that the airport is on track to exceed the earlier forecast 65.4 million passengers for the whole of 2013.
Aircraft movements in October rose 9.1 per cent to 32,279, up from 29,578 recorded during the same month in 2012. Year to date aircraft movements totalled 305,596, up 7.8 per cent against the first 10 months of 2012.
