QANTAS executive general manager John Borghetti has welcomed the world's largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380, to Australia, saying it "will set a benchmark for the industry and the future of long haul travel."
His comments came as the A380 landed in Sydney on its promotional flight to mark the first time the aircraft arrived in Australia with passengers.
Mr Borghetti said the A380 had visited Australia twice before - in November 2005 to help Qantas celebrate its 85th anniversary, and again a year later as part of its pre-certification route to prove air worthiness.
