Drewry Shipping Consultants, a leading maritime consultant, recorded on-time arrivals of only 46% in the latest quarter, compared to 57% in the first two months of 2006, in its latest survey of global carrier reliability.
Liner schedule dependability was at a record low on the 20 trade routes the consultancy tracks. Drewry’s analysis started in late 2005. The proportion of vessels arriving one calendar day late was 23% during the quarter. The proportion making it two or more days late was another 29%. There was a small percentage of containerships (1%) arriving two days before the scheduled arrival day, which Drewry also considered to be not on time: 2 days early 1%, scheduled day or 1 day early 46%, 1 day late 23%, 2 days late 11%, 3 days late 6%, 4 days late 4%, 5 or more days late 8%.
