A NEW service between southeast Asia and northern Australia will commence in July offered by Singapore-based Mocean Shipping, a joint venture of Meratus Line of Indonesia and Ocean Shipping of Australia.
Mocean Shipping will start from Singapore and Surabaya, sail to Darwin, Port Hedland and Dampier with a 30-day frequency with the first vessel, the 3,200-tonne Territory Trader, capable of handling containers, breakbulk and project cargo.
The Singapore transshipment hub will allow for onward carriage to and from the rest of the world, while Meratus' extensive facilities in Surabaya and its network of domestic connections enables Mocean to provide regular service to support mining and oil and gas operations in eastern Indonesia.
