DHL-Exel reports that labour disputes are disrupting transportation activities in Nigeria and Brazil.
The Nigerian Labour Congress has embarked on an indefinite strike, following failure of the labour unions and the Nigerian government to resolve disputes revolving around fuel price and VAT increases, and the sale of two refineries to a private company.
With no transport vehicles operating during the strike, as well as reports of fighting in various places, DHL Global Forwarding staff cannot reach the office.
Brazil's Dept of Agriculture has begun an indefinite go-slow strike, effective today, due to salary negotiations with the government.
This situation will cause delays on all shipments that require any administrative proceedings from the Dept.
