Cosco to charter eight 13,100-TEU newbuilds from Seaspan

COSCO Container Lines has signed agreements with Vancouver-based Seaspan Corporation to charter eight 13,100-TEU newbuildings The charter period will be 12 years and the rate will be US$55,000 per vessel each day. The vessels will be built by Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in South Korea and delivered in 2011. After delivery, they will be deployed in the east-west trunk services, a statement from Cosco said. Cosco said the newbuilds will help it enhance its competitiveness and provide better service to customers. Asian Shipper News
