Coinciding with the start of its winter schedule on November 1, EVA Air Cargo will launch two weekly B747-400 freighter flights to Houston.
The carrier will also resume Taipei - Frankfurt services that it code-shares with Lufthansa Cargo.
The new Taipei - Houston service is a benefit of the increased cargo capacity created by EVA's conversion of B747-400 passenger aircraft into freighters.
The added destination enhances the carrier's existing cargo services and makes shipping by air faster and more convenient for customers along the Gulf Coast and in the Southwestern US.
EVA is now making 35 dedicated freighter flights a week to Los Angeles, New York, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago and Atlanta.
Due to fleet deployment requirements, EVA temporarily stopped its Taipei-Frankfurt service with its summer schedule. These will resume via Dubai with the winter schedule, with increased capacity created by boosting weekly freighter flights from seven to eight.
The increased frequency to Frankfurt, combined with existing freighter services to Brussels and direct passenger and air cargo flights to London, Amsterdam and Vienna, gives EVA customers throughout Europe unparalleled shipping and travel links to and from Asia. EVA will be starting additional freighter services to Paris in January 2008.
EVA is adding capacity, frequency and service by converting the B747-400s in its fleet into freighters as it deploys new Boeing 777-300ERs on passenger routes.
Two of these newly converted freighters are currently in use. Another three will be added to EVA's fleet in mid-2008, expanding cargo capacity and reach capabilities further. EVA's B747 freighters hold up to 110 tonnes and can accommodate as many as 36 pallets and 12 containers.
