Aero Republica, subsidiary of Copa Holdings S.A. (NYSE: CPA), began service from Bucaramanga, Colombia to Panama City, Panama on October 4, 2007. Aero Republica is operating the new route with one of its new EMBRAER 190 aircraft with 106 all-leather seats in a single class configuration. The Aero Republica Bucaramanga-Panama flight operates with the following schedule: Bucaramanga, a municipality and capital city of the state of Santander, is Colombia's sixth-largest metropolitan area, with a population of over one million. The city is the major commercial center of northeastern Colombia and in recent years has been a focal point for research centers in areas such as energy, oil and gas, oil derivatives, leather, and cagro industrial equipment. Known as the "City of Parks," Bucaramanga has an increasing potential for tourism and is already an important destination for adventure tourism. "This new route will provide passengers from North, Central and South America more access to this important Colombian destination through efficient connections through Copa Airlines' Hub of the Americas in Panama City," said Roberto Junguito, President, Aero Republica. Aero Republica now provides international service from five principal cities in Colombia into Copa Airlines' Hub of the Americas in Panama City. The Aero Republica-Copa Airlines alliance enables intra-regional connectivity for Colombian passengers who will be able to benefit from codeshare agreements between both airlines, as well as connections through Panama with the major business centers in Central America and the Caribbean.
Aero Republica, Colombia's second-largest domestic carrier, provides service to 12 cities in Colombia, as well as international connectivity with Copa Airlines' Hub of the Americas from the Colombian cities of Bogota, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena and Medellin. Copa Holdings, through its Copa Airlines and Aero Republica operating subsidiaries, is a leading Latin American provider of passenger and cargo service.
