Lufthansa will double the number of flights between Newcastle and Düsseldorf from November.
With two flights each weekday from Monday 5 November and one flight every Saturday and Sunday the new flight times will also provide more - and quicker - onward connections to a range of European destinations not currently served direct from Newcastle. These include Budapest, Bucharest, Gothenburg, Marseille, Milan Malpensa, Katowice, Stockholm, Vienna, Warsaw, and Zurich.
“Lufthansa’s passengers from across the North East of England will benefit enormously from the new flights,” says Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa General Manager UK & Ireland. “The new morning flight will leave Newcastle at 9.40am arriving in Düsseldorf just after midday, freeing up the afternoon for either business meetings or sightseeing for visitors to the city. This, along with the revised timings for our afternoon flight, also offers huge benefits for passengers travelling to and from Newcastle who want quick and easy onward connections to the main airports serving cities across Europe.”
The revised Newcastle service is part of Lufthansa’s on-going investment and route network development through Düsseldorf. As of May 2008, Lufthansa will station three Airbus A 340-300 long-range jets in Düsseldorf and add a five times a week service to the Canadian metropolis of Toronto to the Düsseldorf flight schedule. Beside Toronto, the USA services to New York (daily) and Chicago (six times a week) will be served by the comfortable wide-bodied aircraft.
