American Airlines are to launch scheduled flights to Moscow Domodedovo International Airport from June 3, 2008. The Chicago-Moscow-Chicago service will be operated every day except Mondays.
“Our aim at American is to provide convenient links to the major business centres of the world so we are delighted to be adding Moscow to the American Airlines global network,” said Craig Kreeger, American’s Senior Vice President – International.
From Chicago, American is – or soon will be - providing links to the world’s key developing economies in Russia, China, and India as well as the established markets of Japan, Europe and Latin America. The Russian economy is booming and many of the top 100 US corporations are doing business there so the time is right to begin serving Moscow,” added Mr Kreeger. Chicago O’Hare airport is one of the largest transportation hubs in North America. American Airlines, together with American Eagle, its regional partner, offer about 500 daily flights from Chicago to over 115 destinations across USA and the Caribbean.
Domodedovo, in turn, is prepared to offer American Airlines’ customers the widest route network in Russia and CIS. “American Airlines’ decision to launch flights to Moscow Domodedovo International Airport once again proves that we have chosen the right development strategy. We are well in a position to offer our customers real quality service and the opportunity to develop their business effectively benefiting from advantage of the Russian and CIS markets,’ believes Mr Sergey Rudakov, Director of Domodedovo Airport Complex.
American Airlines after British Airways, Iberia, Royal Jordanian and Japan Airlines will be the fifth OneWorld alliance member to become a Domodedovo customer.
