CMA CGM has redesigned its existing SAX service (Asia-Panama-US east coast service) to include port of calls in Balboa, Panama eastbound and westbound, as well as Jacksonville, Florida eastbound.
The SAX service is now deploying eight 3,800 vessels, of which three are operated by CMA CGM and five are operated by TNWA.
The port rotation for the SAX service is: Ningbo, Shanghai, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Balboa, Manzanillo, Jacksonville, Savannah, New York, Norfolk, Balboa, Ningbo.
In Balboa, the SAX service connects with the dedicated ANDEX service, solely operated by CMA CGM, offering new destinations out of Asia and the US east coast, to the west coast of South America (Buenaventura, Colombia - Guayaquil, Ecuador - Iquique, Chile - Callao, Peru and Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica).
CMA CGM's ANDEX service will also provide weekly sailings out of the west coast of South America to the US east coast and Asia, a company statement said.
The first call in Balboa eastbound will take place on June 26 and westbound on July 10.
The Asia-US east coast SAX all-water service is also introducing an additional call at Jacksonville, Florida, from July 7, the new gateway into north Florida, right before Savannah.
This will complement the French shipping group's PEX service which calls weekly at Miami and Savannah, the release added.
