OOCL and NYK will next month enter tonnage on the U.S. East Coast/Indian Subcontinent Indamex service of APL, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd.

OOCL and NYK have been taking slots on the service since July. The vessels OOCL Kobe and NYK Cosmos are due to enter the service with departures from Karachi in Pakistan on Aug. 15 and 22, respectively. The two carriers are marketing the service as the Indian Subcontinent East Coast Express (IEX).

With the introduction of the OOCL and NYK ships, the service will operate with seven ships averaging 4,235 TEUs. The port rotation is New York, Norfolk, Charleston, Port Said, Jeddah, Karachi, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Damietta and back to New York.

OOCL had been a partner with Emirates Shipping Line, Zim, the Shipping Corp. of India (SCI) and Evergreen Line on the India North America Express (IDX) that ended at the start of the year.
