Hanjin Shipping will extend its Thailand feeder network by adding EMC's Taiwan-Thailand (TWT) service, which runs on a weekly basis between Laem Chabang and Kaohsiung.
From August 25th, this feeder service, transhipping cargo from Laem Chabang via Kaohsiung, is expected to reduce transit time from Thailand to the US West Coast by six days.
The TWT service will deploy two of EMC's 1,200 TEU vessels and one 300 TEU vessel from Hanjin.
With four different feeder services transhipping cargo from Thailand to the US, Hanjin believes that adding this service will enable the company to accommodate increasing cargo volumes from Thailand and will also ease the vessel capacity shortages during peak seasons.
Hanjin Shipping plans to continue to co-operate with other major carriers to extend its feeder network.
