AirBridgeCargo Airlines said it has begun regular scheduled service between Frankfurt and Kabul, Afghanistan.
The service, operated with a 747-200/300 freighter, leaves Frankfurt every Tuesday. It has capacity for 100 tons of cargo. The first shipment, which landed Tuesday in Kabul, included a consignment of armored vehicles for the Afghan company Ariana.
"Despite the fact that volumes are down worldwide, the Middle East is still a vast and attractive marketplace," said Dennis Glitznoutsa, group commercial director for Volga-Dnepr, the parent of AirBridgeCargo. "During these unpredictable times, we find the Kabul deployment a very important step in ABC's activity."
