Japan ‘won’t let JAL go bankrupt’

9/30/2009 10:39:27 AM

Media reports say Japan's Transport minister has confirmed the struggling Japan Airlines will not be forced into bankruptcy.

A team of government-appointed experts has been asked to create a restructuring plan for the airline and make a recommendation to the Transport minister by early November.

The airline incurred its biggest-ever quarterly net loss of JPY99 billion (US$1 billion) in the three months to June, and has forecast a net loss of JPY63 billion (US$701 million) for the current fiscal year to March 2010.
