Cathay Pacific said it has ordered six more Boeing 777-300 Extended Range aircraft, bringing its total order for the wide-body jet to 36.
Boeing has already delivered 18 aircraft, with 12 more scheduled for delivery from 2011 to early 2013. Cathay employs the planes on long-distance routes to Europe and North America.
The six additional planes, valued at $1.6 billion at list price, will join Cathay’s fleet in 2013 and 2014.
The news comes on the heels of the Hong Kong-based airline’s order last week for 30 Airbus A350-900 mid-size, widebody aircraft.
Cathay Pacific has a fleet of 128 widebodies.
