DHL launched two direct routes from Paris and Frankfurt to its U.S. hub in Cincinnati in a major expansion of its trans-Atlantic express services.
Deutsche Post's transport and logistics unit said the 767 freighter services are timed to feed directly into its North American overnight express network and will enable customers in France and Germany and some neighboring countries to send next day delivery shipments to the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
"DHL is seeing continuously high demand for trans-Atlantic express services and the two new routes will help customers on both sides of the Atlantic to improve their export and import flows," said John Pearson, chief executive officer for DHL Express Europe.
"Canada, the U.S. and Mexico remain very important trade partners for the European markets and for DHL Express the trans-Atlantic trade lane is a key growth area," Pearson said.
DHL boosted its trans-Atlantic service during the past year by investing in a fleet of new 767 freighters and establishing connections from Leipzig, Germany, and East Midlands airport in the UK, to Cincinnati and New York.
