UPS Launches Cologne-Chengdu Weekly Service

7/27/2011 10:33:23 AM

UPS began daily service from its major European hub in Cologne, Germany, to growing Chengdu, China, as the package-delivery giants expands its reach into inland China.

The Atlanta-based company boosted its profit 26 percent in the second quarter, largely through expanding its Asian air network to connect with Europe.

UPS’s new service will stop in Warsaw, Poland, before flying to Chengdu’s Shuangliu Internatioanl Airport, China’s sixth largest cargo and passenger hub.  The service will end at UPS’s Asian hub in Shanghai.

With the new service, the company connects Asia and Europe with 24 weekly flights.  UPS serves 330 Chinese cities and connects the country with the rest the world via 200 weekly flights.
