GA adds Japan calls to TP service

11/9/2011 9:09:44 AM

The Grand Alliance has amended one of its transpacific loops to incorporate new eastbound calls in Japan, while dropping eastbound calls at Cai Mep and Kaohsiung, according to ComPair Data.

The service, which the lines call SCX, now has a revised rotation of Laem Chabang, Singapore, Kobe, Nagoya, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Oakland, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe, Kaohsiung, Shekou, Cai Mep, Laem Chabang, and Singapore.

The eastbound and westbound calls at Kobe, Nagoya, and Tokyo are new, while Cai Mep and Kaohsiung will now only be served westbound from California.

The Grand Alliance, whose members include Hapag-Lloyd, NYK Line and OOCL, has also added a vessel to the service, meaning it’s now operated with eight ships (all from NYK) with an average capacity of 6,384 TEUs.

The eighth ship, the 6,200-TEU NYK Leo, was brought over from the GA’s recently suspended Loop D Asia-Europe service.
