DHL starts 2 new India LCL services

8/28/2012 10:32:50 AM

DHL Global Forwarding has started two new India-oriented less-than-containerload (LCL) services, the company said Monday.

The new services are offered from the Nhava Sheva port complex near Mumbai to Gothenburg, Sweden, and from the United Kingdom to Nhava Sheva. The Nhava Sheva complex is India’s busiest container gateway.

DHL said the India-Sweden service will provide transit times of 25 days.

India and Sweden share a long tradition of trade cooperation which has significantly grown in recent years and shows potential for further development,” the company said.

The U.K.-to-India service will have a transit time of 27 days.

U.K. and India have been strategic trade partners for centuries with both countries showing a keen interest to increase the trade outlay,” DHL said. “This gives DHL the opportunity to cater to a vast segment of engineering customers in India regularly importing from U.K., as well as to tap into the (small and medium enterprise) segment.”

Both services are operated by DHL’s in-house non-vessel-operating common carrier Danmar Lines.
